Updates
So apparently the linear side of the project is done(for now). I ended up changing the font and some of the positioning of the pages. But it's coming along. The non linear side is a bigger challenged. Difficult siutations came up and it slowed down the process so, it's going to be an interesting fight to get all of this stuff done before the show. At least 60% of it is "done"
Audio Scrapped
So, I am officially scrapping the audio for my project due to time restraints. Who knows, I may try againin the future.

Ideas for the linear section...
Possibilities for interface with linear:
Having individual sections for all 5 poems for users to choose
Having user navigate the linear
Have the user navigate the site through the verses.
Have a drop down menu of the site saying next verse
Have number or shape that will stand out in order to go the next section
Possibilities for interface between sections:
Transitions with different pictures of the website leading up to the collage
Numbering section to send

The process so far.
So recently I met with TA Tom about how all of these verses would go together in a non linear format. We broke down the verses into different setting involving metaphors, objects, emotions and movement. The next thing we did is see which ones are opposites(example:dead to alive, peace to angry). Then the next thing I did was to see which verse from different themes make a story. Now the next thing I want the user to do when using the website is to select the verse and different options will appear to take the use from one setting to another.

New Method
With talking to Katherine recently, It is best for me to use BOTH Linear and Non-Linear formats for the poetry site since it's best to have the user experience the site in different ways. I also feel that having different objects and images and colors can lead the user to a different poem(alka non-linear experience).

As far as the title is concern...
Since I had to change my title, I think it is best to go back to the original working title "Poeticjourney" because with some interesting feedback from Jaco and Marquis about the title. They both believe that since the work is nonlinear, it gives the user a chance to go on an unique journey so to speak involving emotions with poems. After thinking about it, Complex is considered to be a negative and I want a person to enjoy the positive aspects of the project. So poeticjourney.com is official!
(Update. Researching new title :/ Hopefully it will be finalized real soon since the ideas that I've been coming up are either lame or just it didn't make sense)

Brainstorming the project
The other night I met up with the TA of the class and we were trying to make a narrative out of all of these poems based on themes, metaphors, etc by creating a word map, in which I will revised in a site map soon. We even talked about the cut up method William Burroughs used in his book "Naked Lunch" in which I'll read a couple of chapters of it really soon. Also, I am coding the sections right now to see what will happen and it's frustrating to see if I get this right.

Poems for project
Fatigue
By j. saca
trees wasted on
restlessness
I go back, put on the
television, staring
at programs,
commercials, again
I leave for a walk
the neighborhood lights
are on. Back at home,
Looking at the
ceiling
Tossing
Turning
the bed sheets waiting
for peace.
Inner Peace
By j. saca
The sun shines and it’s a new day
I’ve forgotten yesterday. An orange
glow massages a bountiful landscape
the sky is a perfect blue
the day is a crisp dream
out of this bliss there is
a tree. A simple symbol
of life,
bearing fruit, teaching me
the meaning of these new
feelings, this new appreciation
I have towards life, peace
Is here. By the tree,
A fruit hangs on a branch and clings
To dear life.
Peace calls me
I hear its voice echo and reel me
in towards a vast, open field,
where grasses, orange and green
Golden
Brown.
Welcome me to my inner
sanctuary. a place I can
call home.
Nothing will stand in the way
of my peace of mind. I see
another tree
It beckons me to lie beside it and read
A book nearby, I open its pages and
Let myself go
A breeze blows each page
I finish. I continue lulling
Myself into this ultimate
Experience
The wind blowing through the grass
Fuses with my inner sanctuary. It has
Become part of me, part of
The trees. Grass, sunlight,
All of nature is upon me,
I am a product of this
inner beauty.
Sitting under the tree
Finished pages turning
I’ve arrived
Destiny
By j. saca
Outside it’s dusk
the sun sets from
home, the place
that keeps me
from harm’s way.
The day transitions
an end is here, the
sun signals a new
beginning, seeing
from my window
leaving the house
the sun starts its
ascension; I start
thinking about
opportunities
chances, risks
I’ve taken. I’m
not finished
life calls, I’m
still young,
alive and well,
the sun rises,
new ideas
new chances
flowing
I see them
flashing in
my head,
images of a
new tomorrow
Sunrise
I’m ready
for my new beginning
Fear
by j. saca
i walk alone crumpling
dead leaves fractured
bones contemplating
desolate
fate, legs shaking
like twigs
spasms,
fingers
frozen ;
it’s here.
A shadow with a face spews
obscenities,
threats, a furious bark
It orders me to
run off; I do as I’m told. Running
away,
The body shakes soaked
In sweat, the heart beats
Breathless and on my knees
I turn and it waits
Dentures made out of ancient
Bark, these woods are alive as
It smiles and puts out its
hand. It becomes my
companion; I am one
with fear.
Anger
by j. saca
This is where it gets ugly
Dark settings resembles
evil
I kneeled
talking to the devil
inside.
“This needs to be released,”
I take a walk and wonder
if this’ll ever be gone.
rage seething
slowly killing me
steaming within
hatred bounces
in my ears
irritation buzzes
in my mind
there’s a darkness
my anger
madness short-lived
A wild bull
I cannot control.

Idea for senior project...
Since my senior project involved a nonlinear form of storytelling in poetry, I figure based on suggestions from Katherine, I have to make the execution of the website clear for the average user to use and most importantly, to understand. So there are some possible ways of execution for the project. The first idea is to have the user click on one of the sections on the home page and it will take that person to the beginning of that poem. Now, when the user clicks on a verse, it will change to a different verse of another poem and the user will click on it. That will take the user to a different setting involving some kind of animation being displayed with another link being showed. The same thing will repeat through all the themes to a certain point of conclusion.

Main Inspiration
Thomas Swiss is a English professor and poet who began using his writings with multimedia in recent years. I found his work to be inspiring for the project that I am going to build. But I am going to take it a step further.
